Deliverable Checker User Guide

A visual guide to how Deliverable Checker connects structured Excel reference data with PDF checker regions and native DWG attributes, then brings the comparison into one review workflow.

One reference source, two validation pipelines

Deliverable Checker is a Windows desktop QA/QC application for validating information across engineering deliverables. Excel provides the structured expected values; PDF drawings are read through visual checker regions, while DWG layouts are read through block attributes and property mappings.

Define exactly which Excel data the project will use

The Excel workspace is configured by selecting the workbook, worksheet and table range. The lookup property identifies the Excel column used to locate the correct row for each deliverable, while constant properties can provide reusable expected values outside the selected table.

Excel Preview

Displays the selected Excel table inside Deliverable Checker. It is the working view used to inspect the reference rows and, after comparison, review their visual validation states.

Source

Defines the Excel file, worksheet and range loaded by the project. In the example the selected sheet is INF and the range is A1:Y194.

Lookup Property

Selects the column used to find the matching Excel row for a deliverable. The example uses DELIVERABLE (TITLE).

Constant Properties

Creates reusable expected values that can be mapped like Excel properties even when they do not come directly from a table column.

Excel Preview Legend

Explains the visual states used in the preview so correct values, errors, constants and other comparison states can be distinguished.

How the Excel settings relate to the workbook

The mapping image below is not explaining the meaning of the spreadsheet data. It shows what each numbered annotation is selecting or identifying between the application and the source workbook.

Excel Preview

Identifies the table preview loaded inside Deliverable Checker. This is the application-side representation of the selected Excel source.

Sheet

Links the application's Sheet setting to the workbook tab. The selected worksheet is INF.

Range

Defines the rectangular table area read by Deliverable Checker. The example range is A1:Y194, so the cells inside that interval are included in the source table.

File / Workbook

Points to the source workbook itself. The workbook shown is PYV-OZL-FLT-QAQC Table; this represents the Excel file rather than an individual cell or column.

Constant Properties

Shows the additional project-level reference values defined directly in the application. These values can be used like Excel properties without being tied to a specific table column.

Validate drawing content through visual checker regions

The PDF workspace combines the drawing viewer with configurable checker regions. A master checker captures the lookup value used to find the matching Excel record, while normal and sequential checkers capture the properties that need validation.

PDF Viewer

Shows the selected drawing and the checker regions placed over its content. This is where the master/reference checker and the validation checkers are positioned, edited and visually reviewed.

Project PDFs

Lists the PDF files included in the project together with their folder, availability/status and last-modified information. Files can be added, changed, updated or removed here.

Checkers

Organizes the configured checker hierarchy and tags. In the example, the Title Block group contains the master reference and the Drawing Title, Date and Scale checkers.

Boundary Boxes

Shows or hides detected PDF boundaries that can assist with checker placement and geometry selection.

Selected Checker Properties

Edits the active checker and shows its mapped Excel property and captured value. The example maps Drawing Title to DESCRIPTION and captures the three-line title text from the drawing.

Drawing Number → Deliverable (Title)

The PDF reference checker captures PYV-OZL-FLT-SYD-DWA-SD-0001. That value is matched against the Excel DELIVERABLE (TITLE) column to locate the correct row.

Drawing Title → Description

The Drawing Title checker captures STORMWATER DRAINAGE / OVERALL LAYOUT PLAN / SHEET 01 OF 01 and maps it to the Excel DESCRIPTION property. The corresponding row contains Stormwater Drainage - Overall Layout Plan.

Scale → Drawing Scale

The PDF scale value 1/1000 is mapped to the Excel DRAWING SCALE property, whose reference value in the highlighted row is 1:1000.

Date → Date Required to Issue

The checker over the PDF Date field captures 15/05/26 and maps it to the Excel DATE REQUIRED TO ISSUE property. The highlighted row shows 12/11/2025.

  1. Add the PDF drawings that belong to the project.
  2. Configure the master checker used to locate the matching reference row.
  3. Add normal or sequential checkers for the information that needs validation.
  4. Map each checker to an Excel or constant property.
  5. Run the batch comparison and review the results.

Master

Captures the drawing reference used to find the matching Excel row.

Normal

Captures text inside one defined region and compares it with one expected property.

Sequential

Uses multiple internal regions to capture and compare a structured sequence of values.

Validate native layouts through block attributes

The DWG workflow uses an installed AutoCAD environment and Core Console to inspect paper-space layouts, blocks and attributes. A reference drawing establishes the layout and block pattern reused across the project before property mappings are configured.

DWG Layout Viewer

Displays the selected paper-space layout and title block so the reference drawing, block and attributes can be inspected visually.

Property Mapping

Maps expected Excel or constant properties to block attributes and shows the extracted attribute values. The example includes grouped title attributes plus mappings for revision description and drawing scale.

Reference Drawing

Lists the project DWGs and their layouts, identifies the drawing/layout used as the reference and provides the controls for adding or removing DWG files.

Reference Block

Defines the block used to identify and extract the project data. In the example the block is TB, the Excel reference property is DELIVERABLE (TITLE), and block attribute BLOCK TEXT - 1 provides PYV-OZL-FLT-SYD-DWA-SD-0001.

  1. Open a reference DWG and select a paper-space layout.
  2. Set the reference block and the attribute used as the drawing identifier.
  3. Add project DWGs and choose the layouts that should be processed.
  4. Create the property mappings between block attributes and expected values.
  5. Run DWG table extraction or direct comparison against Excel.

Connect native block attributes to expected properties

Property mappings define what is extracted from the configured reference block and which Excel or constant property each value represents. The image below shows the relationship between the DWG title block and the corresponding reference row.

Drawing Number → Deliverable (Title)

The reference block provides PYV-OZL-FLT-SYD-DWA-SD-0001. This is matched to the Excel DELIVERABLE (TITLE) value to identify the correct reference row.

Drawing Title → Description

The grouped DWG attributes TITLE-1, TITLE-2 and TITLE-3 provide STORMWATER DRAINAGE / OVERALL LAYOUT PLAN / SHEET 01 OF 01 and are mapped to the Excel DESCRIPTION property.

Scale → Drawing Scale

The DWG SCALE attribute contains 1/1000 and is mapped to the Excel DRAWING SCALE property, whose highlighted reference value is 1:1000.

Single mapping

Map one block attribute directly to an Excel or constant property.

Group mapping

Combine multiple block attributes into one mapped value using the configured separator and order.

Choose the operation that matches the deliverable

PDF comparison

Confirm PDFs, checker configuration and the Excel lookup property, then run the batch comparison.

DWG table extraction

Extract mapped values from selected layouts and save the resulting rows to an XLSX workbook.

Compare the extracted layout data directly against the selected Excel reference row.

Progress & cancellation

DWG processing reports progress per layout and supports cancellation while drawings are processed in the background.

Focus on exceptions instead of rechecking everything

The results workspace consolidates validation output so reviewers can distinguish successful checks from mismatches, missing references, duplicate references and processing failures.

Reusable comparison, PDF processing and project defaults

The Settings workspace separates the most important reusable behaviors from the document workspaces.

Comparison Settings

Controls text normalization before comparison, including case, extra spaces and line breaks, hyphens, punctuation and accent handling.

PDF Processing

Controls PDF rendering and extracted-data behavior. The example uses High render quality, 400% maximum zoom and enables caching of extracted PDF data.

Snap Points

Configures snapping used when placing and editing checker geometry. Endpoint, Midpoint, Intersection and Perpendicular point are available, with F3 used to toggle snapping.

Project Defaults

Defines initial values reused by projects. The example shows default Excel range A13:Y206, checker width 100 and checker height 30.

Windows application and DWG dependency

Deliverable Checker is a WPF desktop application targeting .NET 10 on Windows. An AutoCAD installation is required for the DWG Checker features because the application uses AutoCAD Core Console for background DWG processing and layout previews.

DWG requirement: PDF and Excel workflows do not depend on the DWG processing pipeline, but native DWG extraction requires AutoCAD to be available on the machine.

Common checks before reporting a problem

  • Confirm the PDF, DWG and Excel files still exist at their saved locations.
  • For PDF checks, confirm the master checker and validation checkers are configured correctly.
  • For DWG checks, confirm AutoCAD is installed and the reference drawing, layout and block have been set.
  • Confirm every active DWG mapping has an expected property and at least one block attribute.
  • When comparing against Excel, confirm the worksheet, range and lookup property are correct.
  • If a mapped property is not an Excel table column, confirm it is supplied by a valid constant property.
